Enter all your employment periods to get your total work experience in years, months and days. Both the first and last day of each period count, and overlapping periods trigger a warning.

How tenure is calculated

Tenure follows the convention used by pension funds in the region: for each period the dates are subtracted so that both the first and last day count, a month counts as 30 days and a year as 12 months. Periods are then summed and normalized (30 days roll into a month, 12 months into a year).

Because of the 30-day convention, the result can differ by a day or two from the calendar difference — that is expected, and official records calculate it the same way.

You worked from March 1, 2015 to February 28, 2017 for one employer (2 years) and from March 1, 2017 to February 28, 2018 for another (1 year). Total tenure: 3 years, 0 months, 0 days.

Overlapping periods

If two periods share dates (e.g. secondary employment), the calculator sums both and shows a warning. For pension purposes, overlapping time generally does not count twice — check with the pension fund what is recognized.

Frequently asked questions

Do both the first and last day count?

Yes — by the tenure convention both days count, so January 1 to January 31 is exactly one month of service.

Why does this differ from the date difference calculator?

Tenure uses the 30-day-month convention and counts both end days, while the date difference uses real calendar month lengths and does not count the final day.

Is this an official tenure calculation?

No — it is informational. Official tenure is determined by the pension fund based on registrations and paid contributions.
