Area calculator
Calculate the area of a floor or several surfaces at once, and in Walls mode the net wall area of a room — with doors and windows deducted. Add a waste percentage for material cuts and a price per square meter to see the total cost immediately.

area = length × width · material = area × (1 + waste ÷ 100)
The area of a rectangle is length times width. For irregular rooms, split them into rectangles, calculate each and add them up — or enter the number of identical surfaces in the calculator.
When buying tiles, laminate or parquet, always add waste for cutting: 5–10% for straightforward layouts, 10–15% for diagonal layouts or rooms with many corners.

perimeter = 2 × (length + width) · gross wall = perimeter × height · net wall = gross − openings
Wall area is not measured wall by wall but from the room perimeter. For a 4 × 3 m room the perimeter is 2 × (4 + 3) = 14 m, so at a height of 2.6 m the gross wall area is 14 × 2.6 = 36.4 m².
A 0.9 × 2.05 m door is 1.845 m² and a 1.4 × 1.2 m window another 1.68 m² — 3.525 m² of openings in total. The net wall area is 36.4 − 3.525 = 32.875 m², and that is the surface you actually paint, skim or cover.
Once you know the net wall area, the litres and the number of cans come from the paint calculator using the same room measurements.
Example
A room is 5 m long and 4 m wide: the area is 20 m². For laminate with 10% waste you should buy 22 m². At 25 KM/m², the material costs 550 KM.
Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate wall area?
The same way as a floor: wall height times length. For a whole room it is quicker from the perimeter — perimeter × height gives the gross area of all four walls at once.
How many m² of wall does a 4 × 3 m room have?
At a height of 2.6 m the perimeter is 14 m, so the gross wall area is 36.4 m². Deducting a door (0.9 × 2.05 m) and a window (1.4 × 1.2 m) leaves 32.875 m² of net wall.
Are doors and windows deducted from wall area?
Yes, whenever you are estimating paint, wallpaper or skim coat. In Walls mode add each opening with its width, height and quantity — they are deducted at their full area.
How much waste should I add for tiles?
10% is a safe choice for a standard layout; plan 15% for diagonal layouts or small rooms with many cuts.
How do I measure an irregular room?
Split it into rectangles, calculate each one and add the areas together. An L-shaped room needs just two rectangles.
