Quality is set with the slider. 85% is a sensible starting point for photographs: the difference is rarely visible to the naked eye and the file is noticeably smaller. If the image is going to print or into further editing, push it to 92–100%.
WebP can carry transparency and JPG cannot. When a selected image has transparent areas, the tool asks you to choose a background colour — white, black or your own — and fills the transparent parts with it. That cannot be undone afterwards, so if you need the transparency, convert to PNG instead.

JPG is the oldest and most widely supported photo format. Practically every device, program and web form opens it, and that is exactly why WebP so often gets converted back: WebP is an excellent format for the web, but plenty of older programs, some business software and the occasional document-submission form still refuse it.
It is worth knowing that this is a lossy-to-lossy conversion. The image is decoded and then compressed again, and a little detail is lost in the process — a small amount, but not recoverable. So convert from the original rather than from a file that has already been through this a few times.
If you need transparency, or the image is sharp text and line art, JPG is the wrong target. Use PNG for those.
Your images stay on your device
The conversion runs entirely inside your browser. The images you pick are not sent anywhere: this page has nowhere to receive them, so it has nobody to pass them on to.
Nothing from the file itself reaches our visit statistics — not the name, not the size, not the dimensions, not the content. We record only that a conversion started and whether it succeeded, the same as on any other page.
To be precise: the page still loads ads and visitor measurement like the rest of the site. The claim is about the contents of your files, which never leave the browser.
When you close or refresh the page, the selected images and results are gone from the browser's memory. Nothing is kept for next time.

Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion runs in your browser and the images never leave your device. The tool keeps working if you go offline after the page has loaded — that is the quickest way to check for yourself.
Is this converter really free?
Yes, completely. No sign-up, no trial period, no watermark on your images and no limit on how many times you use it. The only cap is 10 files per run, and that exists because of device memory rather than billing — start another run and carry on. The site is paid for by ads.
Why is my JPG bigger than the original WebP?
Because WebP is the more efficient format: at the same quality it is typically 25–35% smaller than JPG. What you gain by converting is compatibility, not a smaller file. If size matters more than compatibility, keep the WebP.
What happens to a transparent background?
JPG has no transparency, so transparent areas have to be filled with a colour. The tool asks which colour you want before converting. If you want to keep the transparency, target PNG instead.
Does the image lose quality?
Yes, a little. WebP and JPG are both lossy formats, so re-encoding always costs some detail. At 85% and above the difference is effectively invisible on photographs, but it is there.
Can I convert several images at once?
Yes, up to 10 files per run. They are processed one at a time so a large image cannot exhaust a phone's memory, and each file has its own status. If one file fails, the rest still finish and you can download them together as a ZIP.
